On March 11th, band students from Yonkers high school visited Bard College and Conservatory for a full day of masterclasses, recording sessions, and concerts. For the first part of their day, the students worked with Bard Conservatory students and Musical Mentorship Initiative teachers in a set of masterclasses. A few of our mentors spoke on their experience.
“I really enjoyed working with the kids! They were all great and eager to learn. They had a lot of passion for music, which is the foundation upon which every great musical endeavor is based on. I look forward to seeing where they are by the end of their high school careers.” – Noah Sonenstein, percussion
“My experience working with the students from Yonkers was not only enjoyable, but also inspiring. To see their curiosity and enthusiasm grow throughout our time was a reminder about how special it is to make music together, and how it can develop a sense of belonging to a community.” – Monika Dziubeleski, flute
